“Homeless” Is The Wrong Word

The word “homeless” is what we use to identify people living in a certain human condition. But it is not an accurate definition of these people, or their condition.

Abandoned cats and dogs, people who’ve lost their homes to fire, or war, or pestilence – these are the truly homeless.

But, to define those people who wander the streets all day, who sleep in shelters or under bushes in the park, and who eat food provided by others, requires something more. This human condition, in such an abundantly wealthy country, cannot be defined so simply. It would take volumes of text books to accurately define them.

To make things easy, we use the word “homeless” to identify these people, but to understand them, to define them, would require much more.
